Charleston, SC

A week in a beach town? How lucky are we?

We arrived in Charleston and dropped of the Nut just outside of the city at a Penske for an oil change and PM. Surprisingly, they finished up within a couple of hours so we got to pick it up that evening!

We spent the rest of the day booking hotels and events for the rest of October.

That night we ate dinner at Darling Oyster Bar and I got a giant plate of Old Bay seasoned shrampies for my meal. It was honestly delectable and to make things even better the checks came with a postcard!!

Word of advice, I would not recommend driving a giant peanut thru downtown Charleston. Not that I can imagine anyone else would be in that situation but… the roads are narrow, and there’s nowhere to park haha.

We ended up turning around and bringing the Nut back to hotel, and ubering to lunch and dinner that day. It ended up pouring rain (despite the sun just an hour earlier) and I started to feel under the weather so I called it a day from downtown and snuggled in the bed for the rest of the evening.

Beach day! And a day where I feel so grateful for my job. We drove the Nut to Isle of Palms for a beach day and even tho I was sick, I was so so thankful for many many things.

Isle of Palms is where my mom and I took a vacation way back in 2021 when I graduated college and suddenly I was back, not paying for my hotel or my food - essentially an all-expenses paid vacation for a day.

I got to swim in the ocean, touch South Carolina sand, see palm trees, get a sunburn - all thanks to this ridiculous and nutty job.

Katie and I ran back to the Nut halfway thru the day to grab our fold-out chairs and when we got there, a group of women were running up to the NUTmobile squealing and laughing. Turns out, it was a bachelorette trip, and the bride-to-be’s maiden name was Nut!

We of course took their photo in front of the NUTmobile and gave peanuts to each of them. They were so sweet!

The rest of the day was spent crocheting, taking naps on the beach, and playing in the ocean. Such a beautiful life!!

In all honesty, I was pretty sick the rest of our stay in Charleston. I spent most of my time in bed, playing games with my Dad and watch Big Beother with my Mom over Facetime.

We had to take the NUTmobile back to Penske becasue there were a few things we needed double-checked from the maintenance, but they were super quick and kind about it and we were able to get on the road to Pigeon Forge, TN right when we needed to!
